Lynwood Unified Students Explore Scientific Curiosity at District Science Fair

Hundreds of students from Lynwood Unified’s elementary schools showed off their scientific curiosity and skill through their innovative experiments during the 2023 District Science Fair on Wednesday, April 5.

The annual fair, held at Bateman Hall, showcased individual and group projects investigating the principles of engineering, biology and environmental science by students from kindergarten through sixth grade.

At the daylong event, students presented their creative projects – which ranged from finding out which brand of popcorn popped the most kernels to exploring which drink is worst for teeth. Teachers and staff then evaluated and judged each project.

All participants earned medals, with first-, second- and third-place awards given to individual and group projects for each grade level.

Promoting math and science early is one of the Lynwood Unified School District’s top priorities to ensure students can explore their interests through hands-on learning and are prepared for the academic rigors at each step of their academic careers.
