Lynwood Unified Celebrates Read Across America Week with Community Readers and Dr. Seuss Spirit

Elementary schools across Lynwood Unified School District celebrated Read Across America from March 2-6 with a week of storytelling, school spirit and community engagement, designed to inspire a love of reading among students.

Throughout the week, classrooms welcomed community guests who volunteered their time to read with students and share the joy of books. Readers included local professionals, community leaders, law enforcement officers, military members and the Los Angeles Rams Cheerleaders, all helping to bring stories to life for the District’s youngest learners.

Students and staff also participated in a Dr. Seuss-themed spirit week, dressing up as book characters and celebrating classic stories while reinforcing the importance of literacy and imagination.

By inviting community members into classrooms and creating fun, engaging reading experiences, Lynwood Unified schools are helping students discover that reading opens the door to creativity, curiosity and lifelong learning. Events like Read Across America Week highlight Lynwood Unified’s continued commitment to promoting literacy and building strong community connections that support student success both inside and outside the classroom.
